NEC BWA Solutions based upon vEPC

Response to the explosion of broadband demand with the high-tech vEPC solution

At the time of explosion in demand for broadband communications caused by the rapid expansion of smart phones, some areas are not suitable for broadband cabling are facing with the question of how to build a communications environment that can handle data from high speed, large capacity.

To meet these needs, NEC applied virtualization technology to EPC mobile network systems that required dedicated devices and managed to create vEPC, a virtual solution that can be run on a general-purpose IA server.

The use of the vEPC system allows users to quickly establish BWA (broadband wireless access) system. The system can also be operated with small operating expenses.

The Broadband wireless access system offers an attractive alternative to fixed broadband services such as ADSL and FTTH because it allows the creation of broadband connections and is added to high traffic areas such as airports, stations and hotels with a minimum investment in equipment and maintenance cost. Another benefit of NEC vEPC-based BWA solutions is the provision of low-cost broadband services for customers in low density areas where it is difficult for operators to create fixed line broadband environments due to problems of return on investment, as a result of that narrowing the digital geographic gap.

The key features of NEC’s vEPC-based BWA solutions are:

It is possible to start small-scale and later scale it out with the increase in demand.

They use wireless technology so that systems can be configured easily and quickly.

They can also be expanded and in future it will be used as standard LTE mobile networks.
