NEC vhss (Virtualized Home Subscriber Server)

vHSS handled subscriber information such as phone number and crucial information on a database, and realizes an LTE service by connecting to the Mobility Management Entity (MME) that managed call procedures.
Virtualization technology allow general-purpose IA server to operate, which saves energy and space, and lowers the cost.

Functions List

Virtualized Home Subscriber Server can support the S6a interface specified in 3GPP. The key functions are described below:

Function

Overview

1 Subscriber data management – Stores subscriber information received from the MME in a database.
– Provides subscriber information when requested by the MME.
– Provides management functions (register, edit, delete, browse) for subscriber data through a maintenance interface.
2 Subscriber authentication – Generates authentication information and responds to authentication requests received from the terminal via the MME.
3 Location information management – When a terminal is moved, receives a request to update location information from the MME and registers, edits or deletes the database of the relevant terminal.
4 Synchronization between Mated-Pair – Enables synchronization of subscriber data between bases and strengthens redundancy by positioning (Mated-Pair configuration) vHSS at two bases.
5 Operation and maintenance – Configures settings and displays system data and office data.
– Manages information such as system processes, logs, failures, alarms, maintenance history, and statistical information.

Redundant Regional Function

In case of a failure in a specific region, the synchronization function at remote vHSS allows operation to run smoothly without interference of the service.
