Reduction in Backup cost by compressing the storage data
“Data Redux” latest data high compression technology is owned by NEC that can delete any duplicate data automatically by comparing the data blocks that are to be written to the data already in storage. It can enhance the capacity efficiency. With physical compression and deduplication technology, the stored data can be compressed at a ratio of 20:1, or more. In this technology Big backup data can be stored at a cost over capacity lower than that of conventional tape.

NEC Storage HS3 transfers only the data not stored in the remote site by using “DataRedux” technology. Due to this the amount of data transferred can be reduced, remote replication can be performed on a low-speed line with low connection fee. At high speed incremental backups can be merged with the full backup automatically. At first it performs one-time full back up after that incremental backups are merged with previous full backups automatically with high speed. This has shortened the time duration enormously required for backup.
